Is this the END of Gun Control?

(Heard in a shopping mall outside a popular gun shop.  The crowd gets louder and more boisterous as opinions fly left, right, liberal and conservative.)
MAN
What a boon for the gun makers.  Some nut, incapable of buying a gun, uses his nutty mother's guns to kill 20 kids and gun sales sky rocket.
WOMAN
So?  Democrat wins the presidency and sales go up.
WOMAN
The fundamental issue here is that everybody thinks that they are above the government and government is a slave to them.  If you start defying the authority and wanted to do what you want, like storing guns, canons, rocket launchers in your backyard, soon anarchy will spread and everything will come to an end.  If you are a democratic country, you have to respect the authority, period.  Nothing less ... nothing more.  If you don't want this type of government, you can very well abolish the government and live the individual lives like the stone age people lived.
MAN
Even after going through the pain and sufferings of 20 innocent kids gets slaughtered in their schools, if someone still says that we have the right to bear the semi-automatic and automatic rifles, they are more insane than the actual killer himself.  Nobody is taking away your Second Amendment right to bear arms, which incidentally has nothing to do with your hunting weapons or self-defense weapons, all we are saying is not to arm you and the nuts out there with you, with the rocket launchers, automatic and semi automatic rifles and machine pistols, which are intended for the battle field.
MAN
Brick by brick this country is falling apart.
WOMAN
I eat lunch every other week or so with a group of retired fellow employees, most of whom own guns, many of them with multiple weapons of various types, muzzle loaders, revolvers, semi-automatics, rifles, shotguns, et cetera.
MAN
Whoa!  What's the et cetera.
MAN
They know the history of weapons and shop around for them.  Its their hobby, they load their own ammo, go to the local sports club gun range and fire their weapons.  I personally don't have a weapon in my house but I have thought about getting one just for self-protection.  My neighbors across the street, kind, decent people who home-school their young daughter, both have taken training and have concealed weapon carry permits.
WOMAN
Why?
MAN
And I never ever feel threatened by any of them, in fact I have told some of my friends that if or when society starts to collapse, I'm getting my wife and coming to their house because we will all need protection!  Mostly I say that facetiously but the way we are going as a country and world, there is a small but finite chance such a time will come.
MAN
I watched the news about the Connecticut massacre and the story that stuck in my mind was the librarian who hid behind her desk and could see the feet of the murderer walk in, stand there for a bit, then move off and begin shooting again.  What if she had a weapon and the training to use it and the responsibility of protecting those in her charge?  If she could see his feet, she could have shot them out from under him, he would have fallen to the floor, helpless to move and no more innocent lives would have been lost.
WOMAN
Works for me!
MAN
OK.  We will hold a commission, maybe pass another law that will have no effect, argue in public about what the second amendment really means.  Why don't we try something different that could make a real difference at the point of attack: anyone working in a public place with children in their care would have to take mandatory weapons training and carry a weapon at all times while on duty.  This could actually work.  Israel does it in their schools.
MAN
There are three classes of citizens who should never have access to dangerous weapons;  psychotic or other dangerously unstable mental disorders;  Criminals, Felons;  Ordinary citizens who have not been trained to use weapons, or have either poor accuracy or reaction skills;  Ordinary citizens who can control hysteria when confronted with a life or death situation.
MAN
Who is left ?
WOMAN
Wring our collective hands, criticize the treatment of the mentally ill, shout for gun-control laws, --and then let the media move on to another hot news item and then run it into the ground by talking heads looping the same mis-information with sound bites.
WOMAN
We are a violent nation: enamored of violence.  That--not guns--is the heart of the issue here.  Take away all the guns, and we still would find ways to do away with one another.  How many of those denouncing the love of guns watch violent movies or play video games that are based on a platform of violence?
MAN
Have you heard anyone in the Sandy Hook business say that perhaps the murderer was just plain evil?  Nope.  We look for an explanation to take him off the hook.  So contemporary--no one really is responsible for his/her actions.  Blame it on the parents, society, race, mental condition, etc.  WOMAN
Don't hold your breaths, folks, what happened in Sandy Hook will happen again.  You can bet the family farm on that.
MAN
Have we finally figured out the the risk of weapons designed for combat distributed within the population far out-ways any possible rewards?
MAN
Nope!  We're not that bright to figure that out.  It is my "right" to have an assault weapon--just like so many things are my "right".
MAN
If we are that stupid - then we are too stupid to have our second amendment rights.
WOMAN
One of the interesting facts of this case is, as mentioned, that the killer used his mother's gun, who they say was more insane than he, and older and no wiser.  Where did she buy the guns?  Dicks?
WOMAN
It's a chain.  They're pulling all their semi's off the shelves.
WOMAN
In this case, it seems that it was the availability of the weapon in the home rather than in the market that caused the critical problem.  The gun itself is clearly something that attracts collectors far more frequently than murderers.  Is it actually true that more people are killed per macho multi-shot gun than the less macho multi-shot gun? Check it out.  If true, then ban them, but if not ... think again.
WOMAN
It would seem that that apple did not fall far from that tree.
MAN
Do we get to make all the changes required to keep crazy people separated from weapons designed to kill lots of people in a short time?  Let's not bother even discussing how or why our gun policies are so pathetically out of date for this century and move to developing and implementing the solution set required to fix the the problem.
MAN
The point is that eliminating guns just won't solve anything, because the crazies will always find a way to exorcise their demons.  Identify the fruitcakes and your solve the problem.  Take care of them... one way or another.
MAN
I wonder if NRA members ever reflect on the efforts of many nations to stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction and then make the correlation between those and assault weapons amongst and innocent and unprepared population?
WOMAN
Heinous crimes such as Columbine, Aurora & Newtown are caused by socio-psychopaths resulting from a combination of poor genetics and home environment.  As our population grows, so too will the number of socio-psychopaths whose actions are malevolent by nature.  On the margins, right to life advocates give rise to the proliferation of these socio-psychopaths forcing folks least capable of child rearing into that very position...and we all pay the price.
WOMAN
How ironic you apply this dogwhistle to the lily white assassins of the last three mass murders to the NRA supported war weapons.
MAN
After the wringing of hands, and the superficial epiphanies of staunch NRA A-listed politicians - nothing will change.  In this nation, we value the right to kill as a freedom - more valuable than the right to live.
MAN
The only fool proof way of preventing malevolent human conduct is to prevent all human existence.
WOMAN
Sounds too much like Romney's " self-deport' theory.
MAN
In view of the Newtown carnage, constitutional lawyers should present Justice Scalia and his "strict constructionist" Supreme Court associates the following argument on the interpretation of the Second Amendment:  The firearms available at the time of its writing were all muzzle loaders, which have a reloading time of almost one minute.  By limiting the ownership of private citizens to muzzle loaders, the horrible loss of life of innocents in massacres would be greatly reduced.  Moreover, modern muzzle loaders are supremely accurate, and the pollution of our forests by discarded brass cartridges would be eliminated.
WOMAN
No.  They's just collect a few kegs of black powder, put fuses in them and blow you and others to smithereens!
MAN
John Fund was on CSPAN this morning and with Gerson the Freedom Group strategy is becoming clear.  The strategy of this group is to say it is not the guns but the inadequate mental health care in the nation. They will say if we did a better job of identifying the mentally ill and treating them these shooting would not occur as often.  In other words, it’s not the guns, it’s the Government at fault.  I don’t buy it.  I say yer mama did it.  Or yer daddy.
WOMAN
We have mental health issues but the real culprit are the gun manufacturers who, in the past 20-30 years, have embarked on a strategy to market and sell combat capable weapons and ammunition to the general public. When Bush (the error of the era that keeps on erring) signed the Gun Protection Act in 2005, which shielded gun manufactures from being sued when their guns are used in crimes ...the rush was on.  In the 1980, very few if any sportsmen owned assault weapons.  Now they feel inadequate without one.  This is not by accident and the Freedom Group should be called into account.
WOMAN
I wonder how many people are aware that the gun violence of the eighties has been tentatively linked to the effects of all of the lead in the air from leaded gasoline?  The NRA claims that their activities protecting gun rights is largely responsible but the time line and circumstances of lead pollution and poisoning more accurately track the time and place of the violence.  I hope science and not ideology and politics will drive this debate.
MAN
Much of the discussion on gun control centers on keeping guns away from mentally ill persons.  If this act and actor doesn't represent someone who is mentally ill, what does?  He should never be let near a gun!  That feeds other paranoid people who are out today buying assault weapons in the wake of the Newtown massacre.  When will leading conservatives speak out against this kind of nonsense?  If not now, when?
MAN
President Obama will remind us that he's put off calls from his party to renew the old Clinton assault weapons gun ban, he hasn't pushed for new gun control laws, and he'll even say he looked the other way when Congress passed a couple of minor pro-gun bills by huge majorities.  The president will offer the Second Amendment lip service and hit the campaign trail saying he's actually been good for the Second Amendment.  Go figure!
MAN
But it's a big fat stinking lie, just like all the other lies that have come out of this corrupt administration.  It's all part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and hide his true intentions to destroy the Second Amendment in our country.
MAN
Before the President was even sworn into office, they met and they hatched a conspiracy of public deception to try to guarantee his re-election in 2012.
WOMAN
And Obama himself is no fool.  So when he got elected, they concocted a scheme to stay away from the gun issue, lull gun owners to sleep, and play us for fools in 2012.  Well, gun owners are not fools.  We see the president's strategy crystal clear:  Get re-elected, and with no other re-elections to worry about, get busy dismantling and destroying our firearms freedom.  Erase the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights and exorcise it from the U.S. Constitution.  That's their agenda.
WOMAN
That some right-wing lawmakers and commentators have responded to Newtown by calling for teachers, principals and campus security guards to be armed is beyond obscene — and beneath contempt.
WOMAN
Switzerland has a higher per-capita rate of gun ownership than the US, but one of the lowest rates of violent crime.  Why?  Can anyone answer?
WOMAN
A friend of mine was attacked in his house by a machete wielding 300 pound drugged up maniac.  The family managed to get upstairs  The wife called the cops.  As the man broke through the bedroom door screaming how he was going to do the wife and children in front of the man before killing him, the husband used a 223 Daiwoo assault style rifle to protect himself and his family.
MAN
Simple: The victims and their families should be allowed to sue the makers of weapons like the bushmaster.
MAN
There's no question the NRA has deep pockets when is comes to supporting their legislative enablers.  Has the NRA ever provided one cent to the victims of the products the NRA lobby represents?
MAN
The sister of a classmate of mine from long ago, her father being an avid gun collector came home to find her brother and parents slaughtered, the killers invading their home explicitly to rob them of these guns.
MAN
Funny to listen to Democrats like Rahm Emanuel on tv wanting gun control when white blond children are killed. Yet the Democratic Republic of Chicago has tough gun laws and children killing children in the hundreds, never a big story.  Leads me to suspect racist tendencies in the liberal mindset.
WOMAN
We tax cigarettes and alcohol in part because of the harm they cause society.  We tax cigarette papers, just the papers not the actual cigarettes, more than ammunition.  That needs to change.  The current tax rate on firearms and ammunition needs to be raised from the current 10-11%, to something that reflects the harm they cause society.  I'd suggest something closer to 200% but am open to an honest and frank discussion.
WOMAN
I guess from my point of view, better regulations or reasonable laws would not be a problem as long as authorities must implement requirements and checks in a quick and reasonable time period.
MAN
This would keep us from those BS regulations like requiring firing competency verification but then making all shooting ranges illegal or only allowing them to be open twice a year for three hour periods and require a $500 dollars usage fee.
MAN
I think most Americans would be okay with legitimate regulations and oversight, just not ‘back door’ ploys to basically make gun ownership impossible.
WOMAN
Honestly, I don't think anyone's seriously trying to ban guns.  I think there are some common sense measures we can take to ensure that gun ownership is carefully managed and that keeps dangerous weapons out of the hands of crazies.
WOMAN
As I said before, the Constitution is pretty clear about the 2nd Amendment:
MAN
If you want to bear arms, you have to be part of a well regulated citizen militia.  You will have to volunteer a weekend a month at your local national guard base, you will be subject to the national guard's normal command and control, and you agree to be deployed to defend America and protect Americans at the direction of your state's governor and/or the Commander in Chief. Seems reasonable to me.
MAN
No.  No.  No.  The militia is and cannot be a part of the National Guard.  The militia was designed to counter the likes of King George.
MAN
If you possess firearms and you keep them locked and secured., you can be a part of the militia.
MAN
Why do you suppose shooting children has become so normal, almost a weekly event?  At least it seems that way.  It wasn't normal as recently as the 1960's.  What's changed?  Certainly not the availability of guns.  They were much easier to obtain before '68.  The gun control act of made buying guns through the US Mail illegal and restricted the sales of firearms at the retail level.  So what's changed? We tolerate failed schools that guarantee most children will fail in life, we tolerate failed government programs that turn adults into wards of the state, we tolerate failed government policies that retard our economy and guarantee that many adults will never find decent jobs in a stagnant economy.  We coddle our young and build their self esteem without requiring them to learn self respect through their own efforts.  Since their esteem is false, they feel no empathy with or compassion for others and when they become young adults, they hit the brick wall of failure and frustration.  In the case of some young men this leads to homicidal rage.  What could be more natural than that they take it out on others?  Why is shooting children normal now.
MAN
It is admirable that President Obama, members of Congress and other elected officials are deeply horrified and saddened by what happened Friday in Newtown.
WOMAN
Admirable?  They had the power to correct this problem long before it began.
WOMAN
May I suggest we start disarming the gang-bangers and drug lords here in America first.  Then we can see how that goes and move on from there.  We can just send the National Guard into their neighborhoods and run right over their rights.  After all most law abiding citizens wouldn't mind that.  Maybe make a stop at your house and crash the door down.  Because your neighbor told them you have some illegal weapons.  Does this sound familiar to you?  With that said....there are more unregistered weapons and ammo in this country than registered weapons.  Especially of the assault variety.
MAN
Historically, it is impossible for our founding fathers to have conceptualized the second amendment to apply to military style assault weapons that didn't exist at the time.  Although the muzzle loaders were the only assault weapon at the time.
MAN
Our founding fathers were well aware of the advancement of weaponry.  But the main reason of the right to bear arms is so we can protect ourselves from the Central Government.  So they figured the Government would also have advanced weaponry, too.
WOMAN
By the way, go read a few archived books by Jefferson, Sam and John Adams and James Madison they will explain exactly what they meant.
MAN
The Founding Fathers did not have a concept of the military style assault weapons that exist today.  It is impossible.  Rifles, yes, shotguns, yes, single round pistols, yes.  Thus, they couldn't have conceived them to be protected under the Second Amendment.
WOMAN
Guns can also be used to save lives.
MAN
How? Guns can only kill or injure.
WOMAN
Especially in the hands of trained police officers.
MAN
If you are falling, you can fire your gun repeatedly at the ground and the kickback will slow you down and the impact will not be as great when you land and you will survive the fall.  Gun owners out there, you are welcome to try this and see if it works.
WOMAN
We should take this opportunity to learn form other countries.  How come other developed countries, such as Canada, Japan, U.K., have a significantly lower gun violence rate than the US?
MAN
Suspend the Bill of Rights, particularly the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Amendments, for Gun Nut Jobs.  Have the military round them up and put them in indefinite detention in GitMo.  If they resist, call in an air strike.  Let's see how well an assault rifle does against a 500 pound bomb.  Only then will children in the US be safe.
MAN
You forget that the military would not carry out those orders. Most of the people in the military are on our side.  The military does what it is told - that is called discipline.  And the military has very strict gun control... just try taking a weapon out of the arms room without permission; you'll be lucky if the only thing you get is an Article 15.
WOMAN
I was in the military for 15 years before becoming a disabled veteran. People in the U.S. military are not robots, that is why the are so effective.  When given an illegal order, many of them will choose the right thing over the order, especially with something more important on the line than what's for lunch.
MAN
Why don't you get as upset about failing schools, school violence, and drug problems of the cities like DC, as you are with NRA or gun control?
MAN
Because he is a liberal hack with his brain running in idle all the time.
WOMAN
218 Republicans were funded by the NRA in 2012 and 26 Democrats.
WOMAN
OK.  In 2014 and 2016 throw out all 277 Republican Norquist pledge signers and get a two for one on these very same funded NRA Republicans.
MAN
Gee...more OBAMABOT DemonCrap making this a political statement, and not about legitimate gun legislation.
MAN
Measures such as banning assault weapons, restricting gun show and Internet sales, limiting magazine size and ammunition purchases, and requiring more reliable background checks are fully consistent with the Second Amendment.
WOMAN
That is a reasonable approach to the problem.
WOMAN
The .223 Bushmaster Rifle is one such assault weapon.
WOMAN
It is up to Congress.  It will require the support of conservative congressmen from gun sporting states.  It will require they humanize their positions.
WOMAN
I would like to think that all of Congress will do the right thing and limit assault rifle and magazine capacities.
WOMAN
You would think, but NRA has a strong hold on many who cherish their "A" ratings.
MAN
Looks like the cowardly bullies of the NRA are notably silent again when the heat is on.  After each episode of gun-caused senseless slaughter of innocent people by weapons wielded by brain-washed supporters, they hunker down and seek hiding places to wait out the problem.
MAN
You have to be very naive, and not too bright, to believe that governments are no longer a threat to individual freedom.  They always have been, and always will be.  The founders of this country understood that:  therefore, we have the Second Amendment.
MAN
Don't forget the comas folks.  Because a militia, that's citizen army - not National Guard, is necessary, the right shall not be infringed.
WOMAN
Sometimes freedom comes with a price.  The folks who drafted the First Amendment couldn't have anticipated televangelists and Nancy Pelosi, but they realized that in order to allow reasonable ideas to flourish, you had to let the idiots and evil doers talk as well.
MAN
We're talking about the Second Amendment says.
WOMAN
A militia is not the national guard.  The national guard is a component of the U.S. military.  The people who wrote the second amendment generally believe we shouldn't have a standing army.  Now we have police forces that are effectively a standing army.
MAN
They said the same thing about the navy, but within twenty years we had a navy that decimated the British fleet, the most powerful navy at the time,
MAN
The organized militia created by the Militia Act of 1903, which split from the 1792 Uniform Militia forces, and consists of State militia forces, notably the National Guard and the Naval Militia.  The National Guard is a militia force organized by each of the several states and territories of the United States. Established under Title 10 and Title 32 of the U.S. Code, state National Guard serves as part of the first-line defense for the United States.
WOMAN
Wrong.  Wrong.  Before the libby loonies go ballistic (pun intended) we need to straighten out a few people.
MAN
At the point of a semi-automatic rifle, eaye?  I, too, believe in tightening gun ownership laws.  Surprised?  I just want Americans to dispense with the knee-jerk responses I see in here and on the news.
WOMAN
Think - then act.  That's all I would like to see.
WOMAN
Yes, act now.  The dems never let a tragedy go to waste.
WOMAN
How callous!  The guy murdered children with an-automatic weapon!
WOMAN
Semi-automatic...
WOMAN
Well excuse me!  They were six years old!  You moron!
WOMAN
Act now to capitalize or you might waste it.  Guns are the easy part to blame you idiot!  How about fixing the ills in society that have caused this?  No wait---- easier to just blame the guns.  We don't ban cars because of a drunk driver.  We blame the driver.  Oh sorry- forgot- it is still easier to just blame the guns.
MAN
Nice comparison.
MAN
Uhhh... planes crash sometimes and... uhhh... so we should ban planes... duhhhh.
MAN
Cars are for transportation, and how you can use a car is pretty heavily regulated.
WOMAN
A gun's sole purpose is killing.
WOMAN
Yes, we need to make sure people who need mental health help get it unless Republicans cut the funding for it.  But do I want a society where instruments of war, capable of easily and deliberately killing people, are restricted?  Yes I do.
WOMAN
First let's guarantee the right of people to think freely and express themselves freely.  We'll call that the First Amendment.  Then let's make it possible for people to protect themselves and their rights.  We'll call that the Second Amendment.
WOMAN
That's not at all what the 2nd amendment says.  You should read it sometime.
WOMAN
Again, don't forget the commas.  It says, "because a militia is necessary, the right shall not be infringed."
MAN
A militia is a citizen army, not the national guard. The national guard is a component of the U.S. military reserve.  It is not a citizen army - not a militia.  It is organized by your government which may use it to imprison you in your home, your place of work as slaves of the state...
MAN
Typical liberal crapola.
WOMAN
Comment by a typical right neocon wing nut!
MAN
Says the libby looney.
MAN
Tis, tain't.  The 2nd amendment provides for a well armed state militia, not some coward with an assault rifle.
WOMAN
Export NRA members and war mongers in Congress such as McCain, Graham, McConnell, Boehner, Ryan, Cantor, and hundreds more.
MAN
Now that's crazy!
WOMAN
We must begin — today, right now, this minute — taking guns out of the hands of madmen.
MAN
I agree.  It needs to be much, much more than just a ban on the sale of assault weapons and that ban must be international not just USA.  Listen:  no automatic weapons sold in the US or exported except to military and illegal to sell conversion kits;  a 3 month wait on obtaining a gun during which time the prospective buyer has to take a seven day gun course and psych-evaluation;  no sales of large amounts of ammo and no hollow point ammo, no large clips;  all guns sold must be titled, registered and licensed much like cars with a yearly fee and registered transfer upon sale.
MAN
Some countries require references from two other gun owners before one can get a license to own a gun.  Makes sense to me.  The community should be involved in knowing who has a gun.
WOMAN
Chicago has a "gun control" law and they are approaching 500 homicides, nearly all from guns, in 2012.
MAN
Banning military style assault rifles, a gangs weapon of choice to kill each other, just makes sense.  However, as a condition of a gift to them, they use them on each other only....
WOMAN
How hard is it to sneak guns into Chicago?  Instead of comparing cities, lets compare countries.  Japan, U.K., South Korea and Australia all have very strict gun laws and very low firearm death rates.
MAN
I think they have deep respect for weapons and more empathy and compassion as people.  Political courage, empathy and compassion are in short supply here.  We saw that in the election past when affirmative proposals were non-existent and the campaigns mostly relied on demonizing the opposition.  Without political courage, taking on the indifferent and really very cruel gun lobby is impossible.
WOMAN
That damn .223-caliber Bushmaster assault rifle was also the weapon of choice in the 2002 Washington-area sniper shootings, which left 10 dead and three wounded.  These weapons are designed to be used by the military to kill humans, not sport hunting.  They need to be banned now.
MAN
And you think that will solve the problem?  If so, you are foolish.  The nut jobs will just use other weapons for their slaughtering.
WOMAN
No one solution will solve the problem, but doing nothing because there isn't one single solution is political and personal cowardice.  We have to take on mental illness in this country as well.  In this instance, we, as a people, can and will walk and chew gum at the same time.
MAN
Ban large magazines, ownership of assault rifles. control the type of bullets sold.  Start somewhere, now.  Enough of the postulating bull-crap.  Make the law, vote on it, and enforce it.  Enough is enough!
It would have been most helpful if the Obama administration had the foreesight to issue a presidential decree FREEZING all sales of the AR-15 and similar combat style weaponry for 90 days. This would have allowed sufficient time for rational debate and Congressional action.  Obviously, the decree would have been challenged in court on constitutional grounds, but so what.  The fact that the Sandy Hook tragedy has instead created a dramatic surge in the sales of the deadly weapon is nothing short of pathetic, no, no, no . NO!  Insane.
MAN
OK,  grab yer bags, the end is near!  Get your guns-n-ammo while you can.  Stock up on canned goods, MREs, beef jerky, fuel oil, 10 year's supply of toilet paper, gas masks, don't forget those soon to be illegal incandescent light bulbs, and don't forget those Bibles to thump on cold winter nights.  Then head for the hills to your Unibomber shacks and stay there for 10 years.  Armageddon is about to rage, brought by that socialist black Beast in the White House with 7 heads and 10 horns.  Puppies will have sex with kittens spawning a black cloud of flying monkeys raining death and destruction on the wicked earth.  And when you Rip van Winkles finally crawl out of your holes, this place may look a lot more like that socialist Canada or Western Europe.
TWO OR THREE MEN & WOMEN
Hoooo-rah!
WOMAN
A few questions for gun lovers:  Does any issue at all transcend your hobbies, or puritanical notion of freedom?  If we can't, or won't keep children safe, is there ANY point to anything else we do?   Will a gun concealed in every armpit cause you to value human life more?  If not, what do you see as the realistic consequence of such a condition?  Is a vigilante returning fire in a Kindergarten classroom your idea of a well-regulated militia?  Do gun laws CAUSE violent crime, or is it the other way around?
MAN
Face it, gun wackos: you love the god-like power holding an assault weapon gives you.  I get it.
MAN
The NRA leadership are hiding in their bunkers, clutching their Assault rifles.
MAN
Cowards!
MAN
Ban assault rifles.  Make it a crime to have one!  Possession of illegal firearms carries a mandatory sentence.  Maybe that will help to curb it.
MAN
Hollywood delaying the release of the reportedly extremely violent "Django" shows they know full well that our saturation with violent entertainment can act as training and inspiration to weak minds.
MAN
Time to muzzle Hollywood.
MAN
Stop showing violent pornography to our children!
MAN
The killer was barely an adult himself!
MAN
You are afraid that without your guns, you will be less powerful.  I get it.
MAN
The difference is that I feel pretty good the rest of the time, too.
MAN
You are still pathetic, but I get it.
MAN
American's outrage has sent the NRA into hiding.  They have used tragedy to worm further and further into our political culture.  They are about to be purged.
MAN
Gun worship is puerile.  Let's hope America grows up.
MAN
Think liberals are low IQ morons.  Security at schools needs to begin with physical and procedural security AT the schools.  Like was it really such a good idea to have only glass separating a madman from the school's interior?
MAN
Seriously? Y ou think a school can be hardened to defeat a nut-job determined to gain entry?  I don't know about liberals or conservatives or independents, but clearly only a low IQ moron who would believe a pane of glass would keep a psycho out of this school is a moron.  Heck, even a low IQ moron knows all one has to do to gain entry to a school is set up appointment with a staff member in advance, and they'll buzz you in through the front door.
MAN
A law requiring a smart safety on all semi-automatics rendering them inoperable by anyone other than the owner would have prevented this tragedy, full stop.  I know it pains you to admit simple gun safety regulation can and does work.  Why all the obfuscation? Are you serious about preventing these sorts of tragedies or not?
MAN
We're making this tougher than it needs to be.  One: Ban all high-capcity, rapid-firing weapons.  As with flamethrowers, there's no legitimate need to have them.  Two: Put distinct electronic fingerprints on all ammunition sold in the U.S. and make it traceable to the purchaser.  Three: Close the gun show loophole  Four: Life without possibility of parole for anyone caught in possession of an illegal firearm and fifteen years for anyone caught lying on a gun permit.
MAN
The names of Newtown's murdered children and their teachers should be read aloud every day in the House of Representatives and the Senate until the Congress enacts meaningful gun control legislation.  Is there a Representative and a Senator with the courage to do that?   AS A CITIZEN, I DO!  Here and now!  Charlotte,  Daniel,  (ALL repeat after names read by MAN) Olivia,  Olivia,  Josephine,  Josephine,  Ana,  Ana,  James,  James,  Dylan,  Dylan,  Dawn,  Dawn,  Madeleine,  Madeleine,  Catherine,  Catherine,  Chase,  Chase,  Jesse,  Jesse,  Grace,  Grace,  Anne Marie,  Anne Marie,  Emilie,  Emilie,  Jack,  Jack,  Noah,  Noah,  Caroline,  Caroline,  Jessica,  Jessica,  Avielle,  Avielle,  Lauren,  Lauren,  Mary,  Mary,  Victoria,  Victoria,  Benjamin,  Benjamin, Allison,  Allison,  Rachel,  Rachel.  Bless them all.
(Is it the END of Gun Control?)
